WAYPOINT HEINTZ VINEYARD CHARDONNAY 2020 earned every last one of them, and then some. ​ Heintz Vineyard sits on the fog-drenched, wind-battered Sonoma Coast, where the Pacific keeps things cool, the acidity bright, and the fruit razor-sharp. Winemaker Aaron Pott does precisely nothing to get in the way of that — whole-cluster pressing, careful oak, pure vineyard expression in the glass. ​ The result is a Chardonnay of serious weight and glorious texture: that luscious, buttery richness propped up by just enough freshness to keep it singing. Decanter's panel tasted it, awarded gold, and gave it 95 POINTS. We tracked down what was left and took the lot. ​ Pair it with pan-roasted lobster, a proper chicken in cream sauce, or a rich truffle risotto on a Friday night that deserves to feel a little special. And it really, really does.
