This is a family who planted themselves into these volcanic hillsides and simply refused to leave. ​ Spring Mountain itself has a history stretching back to the 1880s, one of Napa's original great wine districts long before Rutherford and Oakville grabbed the headlines. The Metzkers carry that lineage forward with quiet confidence, farming sustainably on ancient soils at elevation, where cool Pacific nights build the kind of freshness and structural precision that valley-floor Cab simply cannot replicate. The 2019 vintage handed them exceptional raw material. They made absolutely the most of it. ​ Crushed blackcurrant, iron-rich minerality, dark chocolate, smouldering sage, and a cedar-spiced finish that goes on for days.
