This is Burgundy at its most beguilingly complete, from one of the Côte de Nuits' most respected names, in a vintage that frankly had no right being this good. ​ Boisset is one of Burgundy's great storytellers, a négociant house with the connections, the palate, and the sheer nerve to source from the very best parcels in the appellation. Chambolle-Musigny is already the most whispered-about village in the Côte de Nuits, all gossamer tannins and heartbreaking perfume, and 2018 handed it a vintage of extraordinary warmth and generosity. ​ 92 points doesn't begin to capture the sheer completeness of it. Ripe without being showy. Deep without being heavy. The kind of Burgundy that makes you immediately cancel whatever you had planned next. ​ Red cherries and crushed rose petals roll into layers of truffle, dried violet, and the faintest wisp of forest floor, all carried on tannins so fine you'll wonder if they're really there. It finishes long, spiced, and impossibly elegant. ​ A 92pt Chambolle that drinks brilliantly now but will reward patience spectacularly. The only daft move here is not acting!
