We found the allocation, made some calls, and walked away with the lot before anyone else caught wind. ​ The "Long Barrel" name isn't marketing fluff. This is a wine that lived in oak far longer than the industry standard, soaking up vanilla, toast, and spice while its tannins softened into velvet. That patience is the whole point. You can taste the extra months in every sip: a richness and integration that shortcuts simply can't replicate. ​ The 93-point score didn't come from nowhere. Jonny cracked one open at a grey Wednesday trade tasting last year, surrounded by forgettable bottles, and this was the only thing worth talking about. "That's what barrel time does," he said, already reaching for a second pour. ​ Notes of dark plum and blackberry jam, layered with toasted oak, warm vanilla pod, and a savoury hint of roasted coffee. The oak is present but perfectly judged, adding structure and length without ever shouting. This is what happens when winemakers refuse to rush. At this price? Borderline ridiculous.
