Dusty Nabor Wines, Cabernet Sauvignon Villa Colibri Vineyard, 2022

I was deep into a long tasting, glass after glass, notes piling up, palate getting a little weary if I'm honest, when someone poured the DUSTY NABOR WINES CABERNET SAUVIGNON VILLA COLIBRI VINEYARD 2022. I set my pen down. Actually set it down. The room sort of faded. That doesn't happen often, and when it does, I make one phone call. I made it before I'd even left the building. ​ Dusty Nabor is a small, fiercely focused operation coaxing extraordinary things from Paso Robles' finest parcels, and Villa Colibri is something genuinely special. Paso Robles delivers Cabernet of remarkable power and warmth, and this 2022 caught that character perfectly: 95 POINTS of dark, structured, compulsively drinkable California brilliance. I got the allocation. Not all of it (they're not completely daft) but enough to make this properly worth your while. ​ What's in the glass is stunning: dense cassis and blackberry, a gorgeous streak of graphite and cedar, dark chocolate melting into tobacco leaf, and tannins so perfectly judged you'd swear they'd been coached. It finishes long, spiced, and utterly confident. Buy as much as you possibly can. You'll thank yourself enormously.
