Dusted Valley, VR Special Cabernet Sauvignon, 2019

My wife and I opened this on a whim — midweek, nothing fancy planned, just the two of us and a board of cheese we were calling dinner. She poured. I swirled. And then we just… stopped talking. The VR Special Cabernet 2019 spent 20 months in French oak, and the vintage was a dream: long, warm, beautifully even. This is a wine with genuine cellar credentials, but my wife had other ideas entirely and we were halfway through the bottle before I got a word in. ​ Dark and brooding in the glass — cassis, crushed blackberry, and a gorgeous seam of cedar and pencil shaving. The oak is perfectly measured, the tannins are like velvet pulled tight. My wife's verdict: "We need more of this." She's right. She usually is.
